Labor drops guard in the war against ice

Ripon MP Louise Staley has called on Grampians based Labor MP’s to put pressure on the Andrews Government to immediately re-instate the abandoned ice forums across Ballarat and regional Victoria.

Ripon MP Louise Staley has called on Grampians based Labor MP’s to put pressure on the Andrews Government to immediately re-instate the abandoned ice forums across Ballarat and regional Victoria.

Ballarat along with other key regional locations was set to host an Ice forum this month that would have given a chance for sporting clubs across the Grampians region to identify ways of tackling the issue, however these forums were recently cancelled by the State Government.

Ms Staley said the Government needed to show it was serious in dealing with the Ice epidemic and not delay any planned Ice Forums.

“Ice continues to have a devastating impact on our society, cancelling these planned forums is simply madness and delays any chance of getting to a solution,” Ms Staley said.

“Cancelling these Ice forums shows that Daniel Andrews and Labor are simply not taking the Ice epidemic seriously, how many more addicts have to be admitted to hospital, or commit a violent crime before he switches on,”

“The Impact of Ice is real and it claims more and more victims every day, we have already had a Parliamentary Committee provided the Government with 54 recommendations to deal with Ice, why do they need to hesitate any longer”.

“Sharon Knight, Geoff Howard and Jaala Pulford need to get off the couch and stand up to Daniel Andrews and give Grampians based clubs a chance of dealing with this devastating scourge once and for all” she said.
