Ripon crime wave continues

Daniel Andrews’ soft approach to law and order is responsible for the continuing crime surge across much of Ripon according to Ripon MP Louise Staley.

The latest data released by the Crime Statistics Agency has revealed that Crime in Northern Grampians has once again increased, with 1,315 offences recorded by police in the most recent quarter up 43% since the election of the Andrews Government in 2014.

In Central Goldfields crime went up, with 1387 offences recorded by police in the most recent quarter up 25% since 2014.

Worryingly, St Arnaud is in the top ten postcodes for crime increases in Victoria under Daniel Andrews, with an increase of 97.37% since Labor came to power in November 2014. (See Table Below)

Ripon MP, Louise Staley said Daniel Andrews flawed approach is risking the safety of Ripon residents.

“Criminals are running rampant under Daniel Andrews. Total crime is up and residents are being traumatised. We need to boost police resources and crack down hard on offenders.”

Shadow Police Minister Ed O’Donohue said Daniel Andrews can’t fix the violent crime rate by continuing to give repeat violent offenders four, five or six chances before sending them to jail.

“Only the Liberals have a plan for stronger sentencing, tougher parole conditions and a return to the principle that bail is a privilege not a right for violent offenders.” Mr O’Donohue said.
