Member for Ripon Louise Staley has congratulated the Charlton community on its lengthy and successful campaign to attract funding for the Charlton 2020 project.
The Charlton community has been fighting for a new multipurpose facility at Charlton Park for since 2006.
The community has now successfully attracted funding from local businesses, Council, State and Federal Government in addition to its own extensive fundraising.
Ms Staley said it was great to see the hard work put in by the Charlton community pay off.
‘I am thrilled that this eleven year campaign has finally paid off, the community has certainly worked very hard to achieve this goal.” Ms Staley said.
“The people of Charlton deserve to be congratulated for not giving up on this great cause, their patience and hard work is inspiring. I pay tribute to them and particularly the Charlton 2020 Committee led by John Harley.”
“Charlton 2020 will see the creation of a safe, modern facility that will bring a large number of sports and community groups under the same roof”.
“The community has fought extremely hard for this project, and I was honoured to have been able to support that battle, this is a project that I have personally donated to, and have spoken about in State Parliament.”
