Ripon MP Louise Staley will be hosting a community forum looking at the best way to manage Ararat and Stawell’s population growth opportunities heading towards 2050.
Victorian Liberal Leader Matthew Guy launched the Victorian Population Taskforce in 2016 and an interim report was published earlier this year.
Taskforce Chair, Tim Smith will give an overview of how Ararat and Stawell can take advantage of the state’s growing population and be centres for growth.
The free forum is open to all and will give businesses, residents and stakeholders a chance to have their say.
Member for Ripon, Louise Staley said the region has strong growth potential that needs to be managed carefully.
“The Grampians region has great potential. If we are able to strategically harness Victoria’s growing population then Ararat and Stawell could grow at a rapid rate”. Ms Staley said.
“The Liberal’s plan will identify development opportunities in the region and work with businesses and the local community to attract more jobs and population growth.”
“It is unsustainable to concentrate all of Victoria’s growth in Melbourne, regional centres should be the focus of future growth.”
