The State of local kindergarten and childcare services was on the agenda recently with Member for Ripon Louise Staley being joined by Shadow Minister for Families Georgie Crozier as they embarked on a series of visits to kindergartens in the Buloke region.
Ms Staley said the day was about consulting with the local community to determine any shortfalls or challenges associated with the local service.
“The people of Charlton and Donald deserve access to the very best kindergarten facilities; these discussions will help us to lobby the State Government for a greater local investment” Ms Staley said.
“Today is all about opening up the channels of communication, bringing the shadow Minister to Charlton and Donald allows these groups the opportunity of raising any issues them might have directly”.
As part of the tour, the group met with representatives from Charlton Kindergarten, Donald Kindergarten and the St Arnaud Children’s Precinct.
Shadow Minister for Families Georgie Crozier said kindergartens in country Victoria faced unique issues and meeting with them in person is the best way to understand those challenges.
“These meetings are a great chance for kindergarten, playgroup and child care providers to communicate what issues they are facing; the Liberals are committed to pushing for a better deal for local early childhood facilities across country Victoria”. Ms Wooldridge said.
“I thank Louise for inviting me out here today, she has a great understanding of her electorate and has demonstrated that she is willing to listen to her constituents and lobby the Government on their behalf”.
