Desperate stunt from a desperate Premier

Member for Ripon Louise Staley has today slammed the Deputy Premier’s accusations against her as nothing more than a desperate stunt.

“This is from a government with six ministers currently under an active investigation by the police fraud squad,” Ms Staley said.

The Ombudsman’s investigation released this year found evidence of Labor’s MPs making fake declarations and misusing $388,000 of tax payers money.

“This is an embarrassingly bad claim by Labor because I wasn’t even an MP at the last election campaign.

“The Ombudsman found that the only Ripon MP who misused their staff budget was Joe Helper. According to the Ombudsman investigation, Joe Helper rorted $21,148 to pay the current Labor candidate for Bunniyong, Michaela Settle to campaign in Wendouree,” Ms Staley said.

Labor’s candidate for Ripon, Sarah De Santis, worked for the disgraced Member for Melton who rorted $170,000 by claiming he lived in a caravan in Ocean Grove. Ms De Santis continued to work for the rorting Member for Melton, Don Nardella, even after all this was revealed.

“This is a laughably desperate attempt by the Andrews Labor Government to deflect attention from the police investigation into their six ministers.”
