Labor ignores Rail for Donald, Dunolly and St Arnaud

Despite a strong demand from the community, the Andrews Government has failed to fund a return of passenger rail to Donald, St Arnaud, and Dunolly.

Ripon MP Louise Staley said the Andrews Government has proven failure to return passenger rail to the Donald via Maryborough has proven that Dunolly, Donald, and St Arnaud are just not a priority for Labor.

Victorian liberal Leader Matthew Guy and Ms. Staley visited all three towns last week to announce that an elected Liberal government would fund 2 daily services to Donald, via St Arnaud and Dunolly and upgrade each station.

Labor failed to match that promise in today’s State Budget, Member for Ripon Louise Staley said it Labor clearly wasn’t committed to expanding rail services in country Victoria.

“Despite significant local pressure, the Andrews Government has shown no interest in returning passenger rail to Donald, Dunolly and St Arnaud.” Ms Staley said.

“The community has fought hard for a long time for a return of passenger rail, it is bitterly disappointing that the Andrews Government has refused to come to the table.”

“If Daniel Andrews won’t do it then we will, the Victorian Liberal Party remains committed to returning passenger rail and upgrading Stations at Dunolly, St Arnaud and Donald”

“The choice could not be clearer for commuters, a convenient relaxing train trip under the Liberals or a long cramped bus ride under Labor.”
