Liberal Nationals deliver upgrades for Siena Catholic Primary School

The Liberal Nationals are committed to supporting great education facilities for all Victorian children.

That’s why a Liberal Nationals Government will commit $1.8 million to build a new gymnasium and bus exchange area for Siena Catholic Primary in Lucas.

This announcement follows the Liberal Nationals commitment of $400 million for capital upgrades for non-government schools.

The Liberal Nationals support a strong public and private education system because we believe in giving parents choice and children the best opportunities.

A critically important part of that choice is for parents to have the option of low-fee, independent and Catholic schools or a local government school.

Located in the rapidly growing suburb of Lucas, just outside of Ballarat, Siena Catholic Primary School has experienced significant growth over recent years. The popular Catholic Primary School is the only school in the fast-growing suburb.

With the increase in student numbers, there has been a demand on existing facilities and a desperate need to build new infrastructure to support students’ growth and learning.

We have also announced previously that an elected Liberal Nationals Government will build and open a State government Primary School in the same precinct as Sienna. A project Labor has delayed for four years.

The Liberal Nationals believe the only way to get back in control of population growth is to decentralise our State, ensuring key services are readily available for families in regional Victoria.

Only the Liberal Nationals are committed to ensuring school and students have the facilities they deserve.

Comments attributable to Shadow Minister for Education, Tim Smith:

“I am delighted to announce this almost $2 million investment in Siena Catholic Primary School as part of our $400 million commitment to non-government schools.”

“The Liberal Nationals are committed to providing a new gymnasium and safe bus exchange at Siena and giving local students every chance they need to pursue a quality education.”

Comments attributable to Member for Ripon, Louise Staley:

“This is fantastic news for Siena Catholic Primary School and I am delighted to announce this funding for a much-needed upgrade.

Siena has experienced exponential growth in recent years and the new gymnasium is needed to ensure students have access to new, modern facilities to grow and learn.

“Labor have ignored the Lucas community. Only the Liberal Nationals understand that, as one of the fastest growing suburbs in Ballarat, Lucas families need to have choice in education and their children deserve modern, 21st century facilities.”
