Member for Ripon Louise Staley has welcomed an announcement by Opposition Leader Matthew Guy that an elected Liberal Government would commit $1.2 million to fund the long awaited upgrade of the Donald Community Precinct.
The redevelopment will see a multi-purpose facility developed that will cater for a large number of community groups.
Mr Guy today visited Donald with Ms Staley and made the announcement after meeting with key stakeholders such as Adam Campbell from Donald 2000.
The funding will go on top of the $1 million jointly contributed by the Federal Liberal Government and Buloke Shire Council.
Ms Staley said everything from football to dance would have a new home in this modern community hub.
“This is the single most-used facility in Donald. However, it is ageing and is failing to keep up. Redeveloping the Donald Community Precinct will ensure it can provide for the entire community for generations to come.” Ms Staley said.
“This upgrade is long overdue; I am thrilled that an elected Liberal Government will redevelop this broken asset into a modern, safe, inclusive site.”
“We will fix the leaks, repair the termite damage, build a new gym, upgrade the change rooms including improved access for disabled people, and will also establish access to a new arts space and function space.”
Opposition Leader Matthew Guy said it was difficult to ignore Ms Staley’s ongoing pressure to fund this project.
“Louise Staley has been an excellent salesman, for this project, constantly advocating for funding and making it impossible to ignore.” Mr Guy said.
“Many groups and individuals have worked to develop this project. If elected it will be a privilege to see a project that means so much to the entire Donald community become a reality.”
