Member for Ripon Louise Staley has today announced that an elected Liberal Government will deliver a major upgrade for Carisbrook Recreation Reserve.
Ms Staley announced that an elected Liberal Nationals Government would provide $1 million towards two key facility upgrades. The first upgrade is the building of change rooms for players and umpires, first aid room, spectator toilets, kitchen and a multipurpose room. The second key area of work involves safety upgrades at the netball area including resurfacing of the main netball courts and upgrades to the tennis court.
“The upgraded facilities for Carisbrook Recreation Reserve are a much-needed sporting and community asset for the Carisbrook and wider community,”
“Carisbrook Recreation Reserve provides local residents with the opportunity to get involved in sport and their community. Carisbrook is the regional centre for AFLW and the only facility within a 65km radius. The new facilities will encourage and support women and girls to participate in team sports locally,”
“Current facilities are completely inadequate, and many female footballers travel home cold and dirty after matches and training.” Ms Staley said.
The announcement was welcomed by the Carisbrook Recreation Committee and the Central Goldfields Shire Council.
Troy Driscoll, President Carisbrook Redbacks and President Carisbrook Recreation Reserve Committee said, “The Carisbrook Reserve Committee is excited about the announcement today from Louise Staley. Our committee has worked closely with Council and the Community on the planning of this project to this stage. We appreciate Louise and the Liberal Government for supporting our community project.”
Central Goldfields Shire Administrator, Hon. Hugh Delahunty said, “We welcome the $1 million commitment to deliver the facilities for Carisbrook that will enable more people to be more active, more often,”
“This is one of Central Goldfield Shire’s priority projects which we identified following widespread consultation with our community. We are very pleased that the local MP, Louise Staley and the Liberal Nationals Coalition have listened to our requests for funding.”
Ms Staley said, “The Carisbrook Recreation Reserve is home to several codes of sport and community activity. The current facilities are inadequate for the current level of activity and with the growth, particularly in AFLW, fails to meet the needs of the various user groups and the community as a whole,”
“Central Goldfields Shire Council and the Carisbrook community have been calling for these much-needed upgrades and safety improvements for years and it is great news that an elected Liberal Nationals Government will be able to deliver this project for them,” Ms Staley said.
Only a Liberal Nationals Government will deliver this important project which will not only benefit the Carisbrook community but also several codes of sport including Cricket, Bowls and community-based activity across the region.
