Lucas Primary School funding is four years too late

Ripon MP Louise Staley says the Andrews Government has been playing politics with the Lucas community by delaying funding for a new Primary School until an election year.

The Liberals recognised the need for a new Primary School in Lucas and promising to build one in the final year of the former Napthine Government, Opposition Leader Matthew Guy and Louise Staley recommitted to that pledge in January this year.

The Andrews finally committed funds in today’s State Budget, Ripon MP Louise Staley said a lot of progress has been lost because of this delay.

“Lucas is a rapidly growing community, schools in surrounding areas have been at capacity for a number of years, and this funding should have been done in 2015.”

“Lucas has not been a priority for Labor, a new school for Lucas should have been built by now.”

“The Andrews Government has dragged its heels on Lucas Primary School for four years. This is an utter disgrace.”
