Ripon MP Louise Staley has criticised the Andrews Government after announcing it would build the first stage of the Lucas Primary School but then failed to provide any details on when it will be built and how much funding was allocated in today’s state budget.
In 2014 the former Liberal Government committed 5 million dollars to fund the initial stages of building a primary school in Lucas.
After two years of wasted time, the Andrews Government has finally committed to the project but has not provided any funding details or committed to a starting date.
Ms Staley said the community had already waited long enough and didn’t deserve any cheap political games from Daniel Andrews.
If Daniel Andrews cared about Lucas he would have funded this school two years ago, this project is now behind schedule and does not meet the needs of local families.” Ms Staley said
“Local schools surrounding Lucas are at capacity; Daniel Andrews has procrastinated for far too long, and we are still years away from getting any real progress.”
“A public primary school in Lucas is already well overdue; Daniel Andrews having absolutely no idea on when this will be built has been forced to resort to cheap political stunts.”
“The people of Lucas don’t deserve any more lip service; we need firm details on when this will be built and how much it will cost.”
