Member for Ripon Louise Staley has called on the State Government, Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water, and Ararat Rural City Council to find a solution to the maintenance of Norval Dam.
Ms Staley visited the dam on Monday 14th March with locals James and Ian Brady.
“Norval Dam is at the lowest level in living memory; the time is ripe to undertake the much-needed removal of sludge and other maintenance before the Autumn break,” Ms Staley said.
Ms Staley noted, “Norval Dam serves many uses including firefighting, stock water, recreational water and for use by local government. It is an important local water resource used by the community since the 1850’s, and it should be maintained.”
“I have written to all the relevant authorities asking them to find a workable solution; it is vital this work gets done soon and is not delayed through bureaucratic buck-passing.
